The introduction of chemical fertilizers in the previous century made the farmers quite happy as the productivity increased a lot. But the happiness got restricted only till the initial period. The disadvantages of the fertilizers soon started coming to notice. The adverse effects that chemical fertilizers have include polluting water basins, leaching out, and reduction in fertility of soil, micro-organisms and others. This is why the crops get highly vulnerable to various types of diseases. This as a consequence causes damage to the whole system. Seeing this, the intellectuals around the world started to search for alternative methods. They ultimately found biofertilizers as the solution.

Well the name is very much self explanatory. The fertilizers are extremely useful in enhancing the fertility in the land. The biological wastes are put to use and that is the reason why it is known as biofertilizer. These wastes do not contain any such material that can hamper the health of the soil. Not only is that, these fertilizers are also very beneficial for the growth of the soil. The micro-organisms get enriched by these fertilizers. The micro-organisms add organic nutrients to the productions of the farm. As a result, the immunity power of the soil increases and they become less affected by diseases. The productions will be free of all types of hazardous or poisonous materials. This is the reason why the products are accepted worldwide. So it is mandatory to make use of biofertilizers in order to ensure proper organic farming.

Types of Biofertilizers
·         Phospho- It releases insoluble phosphorus. This feature makes it very important for the plants. The released phosphorus fixes up with all the minerals that are contained by the clay. This proves to be highly advantageous for the complete agricultural process.

·         Rhizo- This one has a significant role to play in agriculture. It is contained in cloves, peas, alfalfa, cloves and different other legumes. 

·         Azotobactor- There is 78% of nitrogen present in the atmosphere. It is a key component that is required for proper growth of soil. It has a significant role to play in nitrogen fixation. The roots are protected from the pathogens contained in the soil with the help of these. 

·         Composter- The purpose served by this is that it breaks down the organic matters such as waste of cattle and farm yard, and dead plants. Therefore, the soil’s productivity gets increased. 

·         Biocompost- This is an eco-friendly organic fertilizer. The waste products of sugar industry are used for preparing this. These wastes are enriched with bacteria and fungi that are beneficial for the plants. It contains nitrogen, useful fungi and bacteria. They are very much helpful in protecting the plants from getting affected by diseases that can occur because of the soil. The soil fertility is also increased with the help of these.
One can conclude that the biofertilizers are extremely helpful in ensuring proper health of the soil. The growths of the plants are well maintained with the help of these.
